Fully vaccinated people can gather unmasked and indoors for Easter, CDC says

Fully vaccinated people can gather unmasked and indoors for Easter, CDC says”

Fully vaccinated individuals can safely travel inside the USA and internationally, the CDC said in new guidance released Friday, though they should still wear a mask when traveling on public transportation, including airplanes.

It says travel is okay if you have been fully vaccinated and you continue to follow public health guidance when on a train, plane or bus.

Domestic travel in the U.S.is getting a green light from the Centre for Disease Control.

The announcement was made at a time when the USA had administered 92 million doses of the vaccine, and came with a list of things that vaccinated travelers could do instead, such as visit other vaccinated people.

The CDC last month released new guidelines for fully vaccinated people.

For those who are not considered fully-vaccinated, the CDC's guidance remains to limit travel to necessary trips only, get tested one to three days before a trip and three to five days after a trip, and quarantining before and after the trip. Contact your consulate and/or local authorities to confirm your nationality's entry and/or any changes to travel requirements before traveling. Air travel still remains down 43% from pre-COVID levels and business and global travel remain even harder hit.

JUST IN: CDC Announces Fully Vaccinated People are Cleared to Travel

Rochelle Walensky urged caution and said she would "advocate against general travel overall" given the rising number of infections.

The administration is not lifting restrictions that bar most-non USA citizens from the United States who have recently been in China, Brazil, South Africa and most of Europe.

But global travelers headed to the United States should have a negative Covid-19 test before they get on the plane, be tested after arrival, and must quarantine if local authorities in the United States require it, the CDC said in a statement.

The CDC cited recent research on the real-world effects of the vaccines for its updated guidance. The Transportation Security Administration reported more than 1.5 million travelers going through airports on Thursday, an increase of 400 percent since its lowest point in the pandemic in April, according to the TSA.

The Transportation Security Administration screened 1.56 million people at US airports on Thursday, just below Sunday's 1.57 million, which was the highest daily total since March 2020.
