We are working hard to deliver an easy-to-use provincial booking system for all British Columbians and know everyone is eager to book their appointment, beginning next week.

More than 890,000 doses of vaccine have been administered so far, 87,000 of which are second doses. This includes 2,771 cases of the variant first found in the United Kingdom and 737 of the strain detected in Brazil, also known as P.1.

Challenged Monday about why the province isn't releasing more data on where the variants are spreading, Dix declined to provide specifics.

By race, 70.2% of county residents who've had COVID-19 are white, 25.4% are unknown or not specified, 2.6% are Black, 1% are listed as other, 0.7% are Asian and 0.1% are American Indian. "It's indoor spaces - indoor events, in some cases ... indoor spread within households", he said.

Of the 318 people in hospital, 60 are linked to variants of concern, he said.

Ten county residents are now hospitalized by COVID-19 and there have been 800 total hospitalizations with the fluctuation in hospitalizations and hospital discharges reported Monday. As of last week, officials have cancelled indoor dining, in-person worship and group fitness classes.

A telephone option is also available and people can register in person at their nearest Service BC location. "When we say it's increasing among young people, still, the average age of someone hospitalized in Fraser Health is about 65".
