When can I register online for the COVID-19 vaccine in BC?

When can I register online for the COVID-19 vaccine in BC?”

To preserve system capacity, residents are asked to wait until their age cohort is called to register.

Dr. Penny Ballem, executive lead for B.C.'s COVID-19 immunization program, said the province has worked "diligently and tirelessly" to get the online registration, booking and tracking system ready.

Pennsylvania's long-awaited expansion of its COVID-19 vaccine eligibility is finally here and a new group of essential workers can now book appointments.

"We encourage everyone to get their vaccine at their first opportunity, when it is their turn", said Health Minister Adrian Dix.

As of Monday, B.C. residents born in 1950 and earlier (71 and older), Indigenous peoples 18 and older, and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable may register to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

The province has seen daily infections top the 1,000 mark several times over the past week, including a single-day record of 1,072 new cases on Saturday.

People will be required to register when they become eligible in their age category.

Meanwhile, pharmacies are continuing to administer the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to people between the ages of 55 and 65.

Those who don't have a PHN can only register by phone or in person at Service B.C.

You should only register when it is your turn.

You will never be asked you for your social insurance number, driver's licence number or banking and credit card details. You will receive a confirmation code which will allow you to book a vaccine appointment when you get an email, text or phone call telling you you are eligible to book, based on your age. That booking can be made online or by phone. More information can be found here. The province said more information would be provided later this week. "Let's keep our momentum going and get everyone who wants one, their first dose by Canada Day".

Many people in this province have been calling for access to online booking, as until now, only people living within the Fraser Health Authority could do so.
