Covid: More than 3 million deaths worldwide”

India, driven by a variety of viruses, has seen more than 200,000 daily infections in the past week, bringing the total number of cases to 14.5 million.

After a slight lull last month, daily death tolls have been increasing, with an average of 12,000 deaths a day last week.

The death toll as of Saturday, compiled by John Hopkins University, is nearly equal to the population of Kyiv (Ukraine), Caracas (Venezuela), or Lisbon (Portugal).

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases around the world has surpassed 140 million despite vaccinations proceeding, the US university data showed. The U.S. has averaged 70,117 cases a day in the past week, up 8% from the average two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the USA has now recorded more than 32 million coronavirus cases, making it the worst-hit country in the world.

The virus continues to impact events elsewhere in the world. The public has been asked to stay away because of the global pandemic.

The death toll in the USA due to COVID-19 is over 560,000, accounting for more than 1 in 6 of the world's COVID-19 deaths, by far the highest reported by any country.

One of these is Vila Formosa, the largest cemetery in Latin America and a showcase for the lethal cost of the pandemic in Brazil, where more than 360,000 people have died from Covid-19.

But there was better news in Europe, where some countries are easing their lockdowns in response to not only fatigue, but falling infection numbers and progress with vaccinations. The other places are Britain (4.4 million), Turkey (4.1 million), Italy (3.8 million), and the ten most important countries in the world are Spain (3.4 million) and Germany (about 1.2 million).
