3 people fatally shot in Texas, suspect-at-large”

Authorities are not calling this an active shooter situation.

The three people killed were pronounced dead at the scene. The three victims have since been identified as a Black man and two Hispanic women.

Chacon said police believe Broderick meant to shoot the victims but said that "danger remains high" and advised the community to continue to shelter in place while police searched for him. A child was also involved but was unharmed and is in police custody, Interim Austin Police Chief Joe Chacon said at a news conference Sunday. He was ordered held on $100,000 bail and placed on unpaid leave.

Mr Broderick is a former Travis County Sheriff's Office detective and was charged with the sexual assault of a child in June 2020, according to KXAN.

Brenda Torres said she was driving by when she saw a little boy flag down a vehicle and a Black man lying facedown on the ground. I thought someone had just fallen down or something.

Images from the scene showed a large presence of emergency responders, including dozens of police cars. Later Sunday, law enforcement began leaving the area. On Sunday, police swarmed the area searching for 41-year-old Stephen Broderick, who is considered armed and unsafe. She said they responded to an area that included a strip mall, several retail stores with a large apartment complex behind it. He didn't hear any shooting. "There were cops coming from everywhere".
