Romney Wins Censure Vote but Gets an Earful”

New footage shows Romney getting booed by 2,145 Republican delegates at the party's state convention in West Valley City, Utah.

"Now you know me as a person who says what he thinks and I don't hide the fact that I wasn't a fan of our last president's character issues", Romney said as attendees interrupted the senator on stage with overwhelming boos.

"Yeah, I understand I have a few folks that don't like me terribly much and I'm sorry about that", Romney also said.

The junior senator was also booed when he appeared in an introductory video Saturday, according to Utah reporter Ben Winslow, of a local Fox affiliate.

But despite the negative reaction the longtime Utah Republican ended his speech on a positive note. The former president's statement wasn't entirely accurate; Sen. "Let's not turn this into a Trump or no Trump thing".

Collins said, "I was appalled".

"Mitt Romney is an outstanding senator who serves his state and our country well", Collins, a Maine Republican, told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union". We Republicans need to remember that we are united by fundamental principles...

The GOP senator asserted in early 2021 that Trump had "disrespected the American voters, dishonored the election system, and disgraced the office of the presidency", a reference to the ex-POTUS' persistent claims the 3 November 2020 presidential election was the "most corrupt" in USA history.

Meanwhile, speculation is growing that the Republican Party will seek to oust Wyoming Congressmember Liz Cheney from her leadership role.

But delegates rejected a motion to censure Mr Romney for his votes at Mr Trump's impeachment trials.

Liz Cheney is a woman of strength and conscience. And she did what she felt was right, and I salute her for that.

Trump has called for the Republican Party to oust both Romney and Cheney.
