India rejects Pakistan's offer of liquid oxygen despite record Covid cases”

India has seen a surge of Covid-19 cases for weeks - the country reported on Monday that there were 366,161 new infections and 3,754 deaths over the last 24 hours, according to Reuters.

Many Indian states have imposed strict lockdowns over the past month while others have announced restrictions on public movement and shut down cinemas, restaurants, pubs and shopping malls.

India has seen over 400,000 daily infections for the fifth time in a week and over 4,000 deaths for the second consecutive day.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has also called for a "complete, well-planned, pre-announced" lockdown.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a top White House coronavirus adviser, said on Sunday he has advised Indian authorities they need to shut down.

By Sunday, the world's largest vaccine-producing nation had fully vaccinated just over 34.3 million, or only 2.5%, of its population of about 1.35 billion, government data shows. "And one of the ways to do that is to shut down", Fauci said on ABC's "This Week" television program.

As a gesture of solidarity with the people of India in the wake of the current wave of #COVID19, Pakistan has officially offered relief & support to #India, including ventilators, Bi PAP, digital X ray machines, PPEs & other related items.

The report also said that the state's leaders had been pushing for an "oxygen corridor" from Pakistan as the graph of new Covid-19 relentlessly increased.
