Biden revokes Trump order to punish statue vandals”

Aside from the sculpture garden of American Heroes, Biden also canceled an order that sought to protect Confederate-era monuments.

Meanwhile, Biden revoked Trump's decree in June 2020 calling for the federal government to "prosecute to the fullest extent permitted under Federal law" acts of vandalism and destruction to statues on federal property. America responded to the razing of the White House by building it back in the same place with unbroken resolve, to the murders of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr., with a national temple and the Stone of Hope, and to the terrorism of 9/11 with a new Freedom Tower.

The Trump order, issued on January 18, would have required the federal government to build "a vast outdoor park that will feature the statues of the greatest Americans to ever live".

It was a response in part to the pulling down of statutes during protests following the death of George Floyd, as well as the planned removal of Confederate monuments across the country.

President Joe Biden abolished the task force that was earlier mandated to oversee the creation of the national garden, which Trump had proposed previous year. But the project never got congressional funding, leading to great skepticism that it ever would see the light of day.

Biden has also ended Trump's May 2020 order calling for the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice to probe social media companies for removing or labeling posts or entire accounts in what the former president claimed was a restriction on free speech.

"My administration is committed to expanding access to quality, affordable healthcare", Mr Biden said in revoking that proclamation.

Mr Biden also took down Mr Trump's order in October 2019 that immigrants must prove they could cover medical costs before being allowed into the USA, a policy that was quickly blocked by a federal judge.

The White House did not say why Biden revoked his predecessor's executive orders but sent the text of his order to revoke Trump's priorities to reporters on Friday afternoon. These incidents include SolarWinds, Microsoft Exchange, and the Colonial Pipeline.

The US President also said that senior administration officials shall review any regulations, orders, guidance documents, policies, and any other similar agency actions developed pursuant to Proclamation 9945 and, as appropriate, issue revised guidance consistent with the policy set forth in this proclamation.
