Ocasio-Cortez Raises Security Concerns After Confrontation With Controversial Congresswoman”

The two reporters were not close enough to hear what the NY congresswoman said, and her office declined to discuss her specific response.

"We hope leadership and the Sergeant at Arms will take real steps to make Congress a safe, civil place for all members and staff - especially as many offices are discussing reopening".

Greene, age 46, also reportedly shouted that Ocasio-Cortez was failing to defend her "radical socialist" beliefs by declining to publicly debate the freshman from Georgia.

The video, which CNN reported was from February 22, 2019, shows two men who were also filming outside of Ocasio-Cortez's office, with one harassing the congresswoman while speaking through the mail slot.

"The fact that [California Rep.] Kevin McCarthy, the House GOP leader, stripped [former Michigan Rep.] Justin Amash of all committee seats for criticizing Trump, but has worked to protect this person from consequences (including pretending he doesn't see it) tells you this is happening with the support of GOP leadership", Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Friday in response to the 2019 clip.

The House rebuked Greene weeks after she took office, stripping her of her committee assignments over her racist and violent rhetoric. Rep.

She has also expressed support for the radical ideology of QAnon, a sprawling set of false claims that have coalesced into an extremist ideology that has radicalized its followers, some of whom participated in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"Her kind of fixation has lasted for several years now", the New York Democrat said.

This is not the first confrontation Greene has had with a Democratic member of Congress that has caused them to raise safety concerns.

During her weekly press conference at the Capitol on Thursday, May 13, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi denounced Greene for her "verbal assault" and "abuse" of Ocasio-Cortez, saying that it is "so beyond the pale of anything that is in keeping with bringing honor to the House". Greene denied the allegation and accused Bush of "lying" and of leading a "terrorist mob" because Bush supported Black Lives Matter.

And it marks the latest example of allegedly disruptive behavior by Greene and her staff. In February, she posted an anti-transgender sign outside her office, which sits across from Rep. Marie Newman (D-Illinois), whose daughter is transgender. "MALE & FEMALE. Trust the Science!"

She said something in response, but it was not overheard by reporters and her office declined to say what it was.

Rep. Sean Casten, D-Ill., called Greene's poster "sickening, pathetic, unimaginably cruel".

At one point a security official approached the group and asked whether they were "threatening" the lawmaker, to which Greene's associates responded that they were "peaceful". "And so I think that this is an assessment that needs to be made by the proper professional".

"I've covered Washington for nearly a decade now", she added. Her past comments now have much greater meaning. She repeatedly refers to the Democrat's office as a "day care" and jeers at the colorful sticky notes with messages of support that people leave outside Ocasio-Cortez's office.

The video has surfaced days after Greene, now a Republican congresswoman from Georgia with full rein of the Capitol, verbally accosted Ocasio-Cortez outside the House chamber Wednesday and derided her for ignoring Greene's demand that the two women debate.

Yet so far, Republicans have shown little appetite for punishing Greene.
