New evidence of Wuhan lab cooking up Covid virus emerges”

Three researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology sought hospital care in November 2019, weeks before Beijing disclosed the COVID-19 pandemic, a U.S. media report said, citing a previously undisclosed American intelligence document that could add weight to growing calls for a full scale probe of whether the coronavirus may have escaped from China's top bio lab.

The U.S. State Department published a "fact sheet https://2017-2021.state.gov/fact-sheet-activity-at-the-wuhan-institute-of-virology/index.html " on COVID-19 and the Wuhan lab on January 15, 2020, five days before Trump left office, based in part on information in the classified report, sources said.

The researchers allegedly had symptoms consistent with both Covid-19 and common seasonal illness. While some said the evidence was strong, others believed the issue required further investigation and more corroboration. "What it didn't tell you was exactly why they [Wuhan researchers] got sick".

The suspicion that a lab leak from a Chinese facility in Wuhan was the root cause of the Covid-19 pandemic continues to gather momentum with an investigative report by a leading USA daily pointing out that three researchers working at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) developed Covid like symptoms ahead of the official date of the breakout.

The first case of COVID-19 was identified in December 2019. Officials in Beijing earlier asserted that the virus had originated outside China and might have been imported into the country through frozen food.

"Those claims are groundless", Yuan said. "The lab has not been aware of this situation, and I don't even know where such information came from".

Fox News noted that the Donald Trump administration officials and Republicans have long argued there is a high chance Covid-19 was the result of a lab leak in China, as per Fox News. "A team from World Health Organization, visited Wuhan to investigate the virus" origin and concluded that a lab leak was "extremely unlikely".

The report called the prospect that the virus transmitted from an animal reservoir to an animal host, followed by subsequent spread within that intermediate host that then transmits it to humans, "likely to very likely".

New information about Covid-19 continues to emerge in the wake of the pandemic. According to a researcher close to the United States investigation, it can be ruled out that the virus originated in the laboratory by sequencing the genome of the virus that researchers worked with in 2019, but he never believes this will happen.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said following the probe that it didn't adequately analyze the possibility of a lab accident, adding that he is ready to deploy additional resources.

The WHO team concluded, based on sparse evidence that was clearly biased by Chinese government selection effects, that the lab-leak theory was "extremely unlikely".

"The problem for many would be when there are too many chances, and it seems too much to suggest that this may have come out of the lab", he said.

Some experts have disputed a World Health Organization inquiry's conclusion that dismissed a coronavirus lab-leak theory.

Ironically, the report also reminds us that these same lab leak theories are holdovers from the Trump administration's contentious "fact sheet", one which mendaciously politicized a global pathogen to peddle conspiracies about Chinese researchers in the first place. They have called in particular for better access to data and samples from potential early Covid-19 cases.
