At least two killed, 20 injured in Florida mass shooting - local police”

At least two people have died and more than 20 others were injured in a mass shooting in Miami, Florida after three people fired into a crowd attending a concert at a billiards hall, United States police said.

At least two people have been killed and an estimated 20 to 25 people have been shot after three suspects with assault rifles and handguns exited a vehicle and began shooting at a crowd of people.

People crowded the venue, which was "hosting a scheduled event and several patrons were standing outside", Miami-Dade Police Department said in a statement. Florida Police are calling the shooting a "targeted act of violence".

"These are cold-blooded murderers that shot indiscriminately into a crowd and we will seek justice", Ramirez said in a tweet.

Angelica Green, of Miramar, told reporters her son and nephew, both 24, were arriving at the event when they became among those shot and wounded. CBS4 Miami said at least one victim remained in critical condition, and that police had no one in custody as of midday Sunday. "He said the guys came with ski masks and hoodies, and just started shooting up the crowd".

"We believe this is a targeted act of gun violence", Miami-Dade police Director Alfredo "Freddy" Ramiriez told the newspaper.

Police were seeking help from the community in finding the shooters.

It was the second major shooting in the Miami area in as many days.

Last year, there was an increase in homicides, most of which were by firearms.

That followed recent mass shootings in Indiana, California, Colorado and Georgia.

The United States has a long, painful history of gun violence - a problem President Joe Biden has branded an "epidemic".

There were more than 43,000 gun-related deaths in the United States a year ago, including suicides, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
