Donald Trump pulls own blog from internet”

The outlet was dubbed "From the Desk of Donald J. Trump" - and it basically served as a platform for Trump to moan about his was a blog. The former president reportedly had "concerns that it could detract from" a social media platform he hopes to launch this year.

Twitter has permanently banned Trump from having an account on their platform following the violent riot at the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6.

Trump is sliding toward online irrelevance. Before being banned, the businessman-turned-politician had more than 88 million followers.

FILE - Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Donald Trump, speaks to media at Trump Tower in New York, Nov. 16, 2016. Social media sites are endlessly more expensive and complicated than a simple blog, requiring a vast infrastructure allowing for user accounts, comments and other modern Web features that were never present on Trump's site.

Miller said the blog, on which Trump commented on US political and social issues and foreign affairs, "will not be returning". Trump dictated his messages to his aides, who would print them out so he could revise them with a Sharpie before manually posting them to the blog. When it then launched in early May, everyone with eyes could see that it was just a lamely formatted blog and was unlikely to provide him with the satisfaction he once enjoyed as King of Right Wing Twitter.

His team billed the site as a social-media giant that would rival the likes of Twitter and Facebook.

Since being booted from Twitter and Facebook, the former president has continued to release a steady stream of statements commenting on news of the day and endorsing candidates - but the impact of his posts has appeared to wane.

In a tweet on May 4, Miller wrote that Trump's "website is a great resource to find his latest statements and highlights from his first term in office, but this is not a new social media platform" and added that "we'll have additional information coming on that front in the very near future". The old link now redirects to a webpage urging people to give their contact information to a Trump campaign mailing list.
