Bidens Announce Death of ‘First Dog’ Champ

Bidens Announce Death of ‘First Dog’ Champ”

"He was our constant, cherished companion during the last 13 years and was adored by the entire Biden family", Biden and first lady Jill Biden said.

When Champ was younger, they said, he was "happiest chasing golf balls on the front lawn of the Naval Observatory or racing to catch our grandchildren as they ran around our backyard in DE".

In his younger days, when Joe Biden was vice-president, Champ was "happiest chasing golf balls on the front lawn of the Naval Observatory or racing to catch our grandchildren as they ran around our backyard in Delaware", the Bidens said.

"In our most joyful moments and in our most grief-stricken days, he was there with us, sensitive to our every unspoken feeling and emotion", the statement said. "I will miss him", President Biden wrote on Twitter. We truly appreciate your trust and support!

Joe and Jill Biden have announced their family dog Champ has died, saying "our hearts are heavy today".

Major and Champ were brought home to DE at one point, and Major went through training after the younger dog had two separate biting incidents at the White House and an unknown dog appeared to have pooped in a White House hallway.

Mr Biden has had a long association with German Shepherds and has had the breed for pets since he was a child.

The dogs' Instagram bio reads: "We are the First Dogs of the USA, Champ and Major Biden".

Champ was welcomed into the family on Christmas Day and named by Biden's granddaughters. "We will miss you always". We are the Bidens' family puppers and First Dogs Elect (s) of USA.

Both dogs returned to the White House in March after being sent to the family home in Wilmington, Delaware, for what the White House described as a pre-planned trip.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the incident happened when Major "was surprised by an unfamiliar person and reacted in a way that resulted in a minor injury to the individual".

"They have to take the elevator, they're not used to that, and they have to go out on the South Lawn with lots of people watching them".
