Instagram's album feature, which lets you share 10 or less photos and videos in a single post, is nifty but it also had one glaring weakness: users could only post photos as a square. The company says this limitation is "to keep the experience smooth and consistent" across the app. The feature had been heavily requested by users and its introduction served as both a new means of creative expression and an effort to curb users sharing multiple single-image posts in quick succession.
