Oh No! Is It The End Of The Kapil Sharma Show?

On July 22, 2017, an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show was replaced by a repeat broadcast, amid reports of cancelled shoots and falling viewership.

According to an NDTV report from the time, the show had dropped to 14th place on the weekly ratings list compiled by the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) for the week of July 8 to July 14. The top spot on the television rating points ladder was held by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs.

Reports at the time indicated that the host, Kapil Sharma, had failed to shoot multiple scheduled episodes. These included sessions with the cast of the film Mubarakan, as well as an episode featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma. A report by the Hindustan Times stated that Sharma fainted due to stress before a promotional shoot for the film Jab Harry Met Sejal, forcing the cancellation of the recording. A previous shoot with the cast of Guest iin London, including Paresh Rawal, Kartik Aaryan, and Kriti Kharbanda, was also cancelled.

While some reports characterized the host as unprofessional, actor Arjun Kapoor disputed these claims, stating that Sharma had fallen ill. Comedian Krushna Abhishek also clarified that there was no rivalry between him and Sharma. Sharma’s sister, Pooja Devgan, attributed his health difficulties to stress-induced high glucose levels and low blood pressure. Amid these challenges, the show reportedly signed comedian Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa.
