Using Fujioka's Twitter feed, his wife gave further details, reporting that he accidentally fell from an observation deck while star watching on December 30 and passed away in hospital on January 5 due to his injuries.

Babymetal released their first album in 2014, and they're backed by the Kami Band, which is a series of session musicians who play heavy metal.

Mikio Fujioka - a guitarist best known for playing alongside Japanese pop-metal outfit Babymetal - has died.

Babymetal guitarist Mikio "Ko-Gami" Fujioka, whose role in the group was one of the guitarists for the three girls' backing band Kami Band since 2013, has tragically passed away at 36 years old.

His Twitter account was taken over, thought to be by his wife, and tweets confirmed the death and revealed that his two daughter were by his side. He also lectured at a Japanese music school, and published multiple guitar textbooks throughout his career.
