At Toronto stop, De Niro apologizes for Trump's 'idiotic' behaviour

At Toronto stop, De Niro apologizes for Trump's 'idiotic' behaviour”

Robert De Niro brought down the house at the 2018 Tony Awards with two words - "F**k Trump!". "I'm going to say this: f-k Trump", he said. However, subscribers to CBS' All Access streaming service, journalists watching the live feed backstage and viewers in other countries saw the unedited version.

The legendary actor dropped the f-bomb while introducing Bruce Springsteen, who won a special Tony for Springsteen on Broadway and performed "My Hometown" at the show honoring the best of Broadway.

The CBS television audience heard dead silence instead of De Niro's comments, The Associated Press reports.

Without any warning, he announced: "I'm gonna say one thing".

When asked about De Niro's remarks, Seawright said he probably would have chosen different words but seemed to praise De Niro for voicing people's "frustration".

In 2016, when Trump was the Republican presidential candidate, De Niro slammed him as "blatantly stupid", "totally nuts" and an "idiot".

"Boy, do we need that now".

Mr. Scarborough added, "If people that applauded De Niro's statement last night don't understand that they are helping Donald Trump's re-election every time they do something like that, they don't understand". "The offensive language was deleted from the broadcast".

De Niro's "Fuck Trump" reverberated all over social media via secondhand reports of what he said.

Taking to the stage at the annual U.S. theatre awards, the Tonys, in his hometown of NY, he dropped the F-bomb during the live television broadcast.

Prior to his speech, he cursed at US President Donald Trump.
