Porsche Taycan production version set for September unveiling

Porsche Taycan production version set for September unveiling”

Harbinger Porsche Taycan was a concept electric auto, Porsche E Mission, and the company needed four years to prepare it for serial production.

The debut of the production version of the Taycan is a big deal not just for Porsche but for the industry. Porsche now wants to build 40,000 units of the EV instead of 20,000 as originally planned. Specific date is not yet known, however, it can be concluded that the place selected debut global motor show in Frankfurt. Porsche has not confirmed this, but it is saying deliveries to customers will begin before the end of the year.

Some specifications of the Porsche Taycan has already been published.

Two synchronous electric motors will be used, with more than 600 horsepower. Four minutes is all it will take to recharge the pack to provide a range of 62 miles.

That last bit of information is likely to please many potential buyers of the model.

It is no secret though that Porsche's first purely electric vehicle can accelerate to 100 kph in "significantly less than 3.5 seconds" and to 200 kph in less than twelve seconds thanks to two electric machines with a system output of more than 440 kW.

Porsche is increasing production of its upcoming Taycan electric vehicle due to high demand, the automaker said on Friday.

"The overwhelming interest in the Taycan shows us that our customers and fans are just as excited about the first Porsche electric athlete as we are - and we've therefore increased our production capacities", Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, said of the decision.
