PixArk is Snail Games' own take on the world of Ark
Ref. NG/68A4On January 27, 2018, details were reported regarding Snail Games’ upcoming title PixARK, a voxel-based open-world survival sandbox spin-off of ARK: Survival Evolved. The announcement followed the release of a trailer showcasing the adventure game, which was inspired by both ARK: Survival Evolved and Minecraft.
Snail Games acquired Studio Wildcard, the original developers of the Ark franchise, in January 2017. The publisher’s other titles in the franchise include ARK: Survival of The Fittest and ARK: Primal Survival, the latter of which was updated by developers to allow players to play as a dinosaur. For PixARK, the developer planned an early access period on PC and Xbox One to test experimental features and technologies.
PixARK is designed to feature procedurally-generated worlds, character customization, and progression systems. Players will be able to tame, train, and ride more than 100 different dinosaurs. According to Snail Games, the title is intended to offer a colorful, pick-up-and-play experience with creative building modes. Activities range from constructing fortresses and exploring caverns to flying on dragons and using magic wands or rocket launchers.
